Hot! March Madness Bracket 2012

After landing the No. 4 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the Louisville Cardinals will be playing 13-seeded Davidson Wildcats to kick things off in the first round. The Cardinals received an automatic bid from the tournament's selection committee after winning the Big East tournament championship on Saturday night.

The Cardinals lost five of their last seven Big East conference games, but ended their season with four consecutive wins to claim the Big East tournament championship. The Cardinals will be playing in their sixth straight NCAA tournament.

Davidson is a former mid-major darling that reached the Elite 8 in 2008. Earlier this season they notched an impressive win over Kansas in Kansas City, and they ran to the Southern Conference Championship with a 16-2 record in conference and 25-7 overall, but still survived an overtime challenge from Western Carolina in the conference championship game.

In the next round the Cards will have a very difficult game against either the new Mexico Lobos or the Long Beach St. 49ers . Long Beach State finished 25-8 against the toughest non-conference schedule in the country and lost only once in Big West play. They lost 79-66 at Louisville on November 28.

New Mexico was 27-6 and 10-4, sharing the Mountain West Conference regular season title. All three possible Louisville opponents reached the tournament via automatic bid.
